Our new NAS (network attached storage) has arrived and has been configured and everybody should have an account on it.

Your account username will be the first part of your email address (eg I am chris@passle.net so my username is chris). Your password is the usual.

To access the file store you just open up explorer and in the location bar put \\DiskStation. Alternatively you should be able to just browse to it through the network part of your explorer window.

There is currently limited structure in place on the NAS. The primary file share is a folder called "PassleFiles". This will be archived nightly to Amazon Glacier (a very cheap archiving option with slow retrieval time on anything we put there but we shoul dnever need to retrieve hopefully). For preference don't put things here that don't want to be backed up.

On the subject of stuff not being backed up the other folder there currently is called "Software". This is a place to put programs that you've downloaded to save everybody having to download a version from the net.

If you want space for personal files (eg stuff that you want somewhere to be put securely and backed up) then I have created a "Users" directory in PassleFiles that you can create yourself a directory in. Of note is that this won't be secure, it will still be publicly viewable.

We can create any nnumber of extra shares which can be limited to only certain people (I'm thinking if we want a Finance share for example). Just let me (or JB if I'm not around) know what you want.
